This page demonstrates HLS/DASH content steering technology. The demo uses three alternative CDNs (Akamai, AWS CloudFront, and Fastly) and performs dynamic switches between them during the streaming session. The panels show current CDN selection and communication between streaming clients and steering servers. The user can select a streaming client (DASH.js, HLS.js, or video.js) and edge platform (Akamai EdgeWorkers, AWS Lambda@Edge, or Fastly Compute@Edge) deploying steering servers. To influence CDN selection, the user can either set a different CDN priority order or use a network proxy (e.g., Charles Proxy) to limit bandwidth to the current CDN. When bandwidth is limited, and the client risks running in buffering, it will notify the steering server, and the steering server will request a switch to another CDN.
